Nicole Ari Parker has worked in television, film, and on stages. She was best known for her character Teri (the spirited legal) Joseph. After her wedding to her husband, she was referred to as Nikki Kodjoe. As a child living in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. When she participated in a Maryland high school event at the beginning of her training, she was awarded the title for the best actress. Contractor, who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was 7years old, traveled all over across the globe and lived through diverse cultures when he was a kid. The boarding school she attended was in London from seven to nine years of age, and then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her early childhood and adulthood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as a classical ballerina. The Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in the arts) the student studied ballet and theater. When she was 16, after nearly 10 years of dance Contractor discovered she was looking to take up acting as a profession. Upon graduating from high school she accepted a full scholarship to the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in psychology and sociology. Contractor was given the lead part in Pericles following her one year stay in University. The audition was held for the role at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. In 2002, Canadian reviewers praised her performance in 92 performances of the play. The opportunity was presented to her to be a part of the Stratford Conservatory. The school is a private institution that accepts just eight men and four woman to study the art of classical theater. Contractor was eager to accept. Contractor's participation in the next season of plays was confirmed, and she received the role in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
